Freelance Writing
Freelance writing is a great way to make extra money from home. Like any other goal, this one requires discipline and practice to make it happen. No one would expect to pick up a hammer and nails for the first time and instantly build a house. By the same token, you can’t just pick up a pencil or keyboard and expect to be able to make your living by freelance writing.
There is only one way to become a writer and that is to write.
Write Every Day.
Write on napkins and paper bags. Write in notebooks on the subway. Developing the discipline of writing every day is probably the hardest part. Phyllis Whitney once said, “You must want to enough. That is the only secret there is.” I recently heard another writer describe how she manages to be productive. She said she uses the BIC method, which stands for Butt in Chair.
In the beginning you may want to experiment with different forms of writing. Some writers are comfortable with writing short items, such as fillers, poems or greeting cards. A talent for writing short articles would go hand in hand with launching an internet business. You will find that article writing is one of the best ways to advertise your own website. There are many article directories where you can submit your articles and promote your website at the same time.
Not only can you profit from writing articles to drive traffic to your website, you can also make money writing content for other websites. Learn how in my special report
"How to Make Money Writing for the Web."
If you prefer writing short stories, one market that buys a lot of stories is known as the confession market. These are magazines such as True Love, True Story and True Confessions. These magazines buy a large amount of fiction every month, and their basic formula is creating a character with a problem and showing how he or she solves it. I often use problem columns (such as Dear Ann Landers) as catalysts for stories.
If you prefer to write longer materials, you may want to pursue writing books, either fiction or nonfiction. A quick path to book publication is
writing ebooks.
An excellent book on this subject is
The One Minute Ebook
by Fabio Marciano. Fabio has done an excellent job of covering all bases in this book, and if you think you can't write an e-book, by the end of his book, you'll be writing it.
One of the reasons a lot of people never get started writing their own info product is because they can never narrow down exactly what they should write about. If you need help brainstorming what is the one topic that only you can write about, get your copy of

What about freelance writing for children? As parents, many of us enjoy both reading and writing children’s books.
Writing for children
is an opportunity to influence young minds, to stimulate the quest for knowledge, to hone curiosity. For me, children in their innocence and eagerness to absorb all life have to offer are the closest thing I have found to heaven on earth. Freelance writing for and about children allows me to share in that zest for life A mentor of mine in this field is Australian author Robyn Opie. To learn more about Robyn Opie,
